Outdoor aging: epoxy over time

New → months of UV exposure → recoating cycles → failure without maintenance

Epoxy pebble new install outdoor surface
New install
Looks clean at first. Outdoor epoxy often begins to yellow or darken within months under UV exposure.
Epoxy pebble maintained with recoating every 2 years example
Maintained
Requires recoating every 1–2 years to slow yellowing and surface wear.
Epoxy pebble years later without recoating showing cracking and base exposure
No recoating
Without recoating, epoxy can crack, peel, and detach—exposing the underlying base.

Why this happens

Epoxy
Many epoxy pebble floors are not truly UV-stable outdoors. Under sun exposure, epoxy often begins to yellow or darken within months. To maintain appearance, recoating is typically required every 1–2 years. Without recoating, the surface may crack, peel, and detach—exposing the base.
ResinGem®
ResinGem is built on polyurethane technology designed to be UV-stable for long-term outdoor performance. Polyurethane systems are widely used in marine environments to resist sun exposure and seawater corrosion.
